Personal Response: HFMD

HFMD is Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. HFMD can have many symptoms, such as fever, ulcers in the throat, mouth and tongue, headache, rashes and loss of appetite. I could tell whether my friend had HFMD if he or she had any of the above symptoms.HFMD could happen to anyone, despite the person's age. HFMD could be spread from little children to old folks! To avoid getting HFMD, we must practice proper hygiene methods such as washing your hands and not sharing food and drinks with another person. I have never known anyone who has contracted HFMD, and I hope that My family, friends and I do not contract HFDM. If someone has HFMD, he or she must be kept away from public areas such as schools, preschools, markets etc. If you don't want to contract HFMD, you should like as I mentioned earlier, practice proper hygiene methods so as to keep oneself healthy. I hope that the cases of HFMD will not increase.

Reflection 3: Friendship

For me, friendship means having friends or even just having having one friend. The importance of having friends is so that you won't feel alone and maybe your friend could even help you if you were feeling troubled. Just being friendly can help you get friends!(This isn't full proof though...) It is very important for Singaporeans to be friends with people of other countries because we might have trouble and those foreign friends could help us. I really enjoyed the activities on that day especially the Judo demonstration as I got to learn a Judo throw! Other activities like Sepak Takraw, Chapteh etc. should be included next year. I look forward to next year's International Friendship Day!

Personal Response 2 : Courtesy

I think that all the fables were very interesting and I think the second one(Good Morning) was very funny. In my opinion, courtesy means being respectful and polite to your neighbours, your friends, etc. The fable that impresses me most is the first one(Kong Rong Rang Li). The reason why this fable impresses me is even though Kong Rong's grandfather urged him to pick the bigger pears which were much sweeter than the smaller ones, Kong Rong took the smaller one so that his siblings could have the sweeter pears to eat. I think that some of the pupils in our class are courteous. They show courtesy by being polite, or even by respecting the teacher. To be courteous towards our friends, our teachers, our parents and others, we should start by respecting them and being polite to them. This is courtesy.

Reflection 2 : My Dream

My dream is to be a successful business man. The reason why I want to become a business man is because I want to be rich! And, with my money, I could give funds to try and stop global warming. To realise my dream, I will start a business. Then, when the business grows bigger and bigger, I will get more money! The reason why people should have dreams is because they could set a personal goal for themselves and try to achieve it. If you are trying to fulfill your dream, you should never give up as you should always try and achieve your dreams.

Personal Response 1 : Racial Harmony

To me, racial harmony means races(eg. Chinese) getting along well with another race(eg. Indian). Misunderstanding among the races can happen due to religion. Take the Maria Hertogh riots for example. The riots started because a dutch girl called Maria Hertogh was under the care of a Muslim woman named Che Aminah. Soon after, her parents found her and went to court to decide who would look after Maria. The court let her parents take care of her but many Muslims were not happy. Riots soon broke out. Rajah's idea was a very good as it could actually solve certain issues, but his idea could not be possible as everybody needs to have a race. To let other people from other races know each other better, we could let a race learn a new language. On Racial Harmony Day the school should make the pupils play traditional games and sing traditional songs.

Reflection 1 : Looking Forward

I got 48/50 for my English, 38/50 for Maths, 44 1/2 for Science, and 37/50 for Chinese. I feel that I have performed quite well in all my all my subjects except for maths. I think the reason why I scored low marks for maths is because I made a lot careless mistakes. To improve, I will do more assesment books on maths. I hope that I will improve in my maths.

Trip to the Science Center

Yesterday, my class went to the S'pore Science Center for a lesson on the phases of the Moon. It was really interesting and I learned quite alot about the phases of the Moon. Too bad Ray and Costine could'nt come, because they had to go and play a soccer match with another school. And, poor Rayden! He lost 3 of his pens. Poor guy!

Excursion

On Friday my class went on an excursion to Old Ford Factory and Bukit Chandu. Old Ford Factory was actually the Ford Motor Factory back then during WW2(or even earlier then that.) I think the soldiers of that time were fearless in the face of death and even sacrificed thier lives so we could live in peace now.

Total Defence Play

We watched a play on Lietenent Adnan Saidi who was the leader of the Malay Regiment, a group of soldiers who fought with the Japenese at Bukit Chandu (in english, it means Opium Hill) and were outnumbered but continued fighting to the last man. I think they were very couragous and brave men, who were not afraid of dying in battle.

Total Defence

Today in school, we had a fire drill exercise. It was com lab period and I was going to switch the com on when the fire alarm sounded. (For the exercise of course!) We had to hurry down to the school field and my class took at least a few mins to come down. Why? The reason was that the com lab was on the 4th floor! The school tried to 'evacuate' all the classes to the field in 8 mins. But, the whole school did it in just 6 mins and 8 secs! :) :) :)
